About the NYC Compost Project
The NYC Compost Project is a compost education and outreach program funded by the NYC Department of Sanitation, Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling.

Each borough has its own NYC Compost Project site, which hosts compost demonstrations, Master Composter classes, composting workshops, and other educational events and projects.

The NYC Compost Project has also given technical support to hundreds of community gardens to help them start composting. Since most community gardens have limited financing (if any), the Project offers low-cost compost bins or help finding materials.
